PVC Conduit HeaterPVC Conduit Heater

PVC Conduit Heater is a heating blanket that wraps around sections of PVC conduit to provide uniform, controlled heating. The insulated and reflective enclosure also opens along its full length to load and unload the conduit. The internal thermostat controls the heater temperature. These heaters are often used to bend the conduit prior to installing a pull outlet or a tap. They are also commonly utilized for new pipe installations and to bend PVC for rerouting.

Choosing the Right PVC Conduit Heater for Your Projects

PVC conduit is a versatile and cost-effective solution for supporting electrical conductors and cabling. It provides a safe alternative to metal conduit and meets National Electric Code (NEC) requirements for direct buried, concrete encased, or exposed applications. This non-metallic material is light in weight, resists corrosion and chemicals, and carries current much faster than steel. It is more flexible than metal and has a lower thermal expansion rate making it easy to work with in the field.

However, its physical weakness makes it susceptible to sagging and requires support in longer runs to prevent damage. It can be easily bent by hand or with a bender but must be heated to soften the material before it will flex. It should not be bent using a flame because the material can release poisonous gases including iodine, bromine and chlorine at sufficient levels. Using a PVC conduit heater is the only way to ensure bending that is safe and code compliant. Rama’s patented design PVC pipe heater blankets heat up to 4” schedule 80 PVC and are designed to make kink-free, code compliant bends in less time than conventional tools.
